The Palm Pre is an innovative piece of technology, enhanced by the inclusion of a full QWERTY keyboard. Released in October 2009 the popularity of this handset is down to a simple premise, ease of use and affordable. The handset measures 105 mm x 59 mm wide whilst being 16 mm thick. The phone comes with an impressive array of functionality and memory storage. This affordable smart phone brings technology to the masses.

The Palm Pre offers a variety of alert types which include vibration and ring tone, this is further enhanced due to the phones ability to download additional polyphonic and MP3 ringtones. A speakerphone is provided which allows hands-free communication as well as a 3.5 mm audio jack. The ability to tag imagery to phone numbers is also provided and is known as photo call. The phone comes with a large 8 GB of internal memory, which is sufficient to hold copious amounts of media and data.

Connectivity is provided by the GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, Wi Fi and Bluetooth as well as micro USB. In addition an infrared port is also included. This multitude of connectivity options ensures the phone can be connected to multiple devices and perform multiple actions. Internet access is fast, as well as having the ability to utilise nationally available hotspots through it Wi Fi capability.

The phone has a 3.1 inch TFT capacitive touch screen which displays imagery with stunning quality due to its ability to display 16 million colours at a pixel screen size of 320 x 480 pixels. The aforementioned full QWERTY keyboard simply slides from behind the main screen and offers an excellent and responsive means of data entry. In addition an accelerometer sensor is provided which automatically rotates imagery to its correct aspect dependant upon the aspect of the image and the orientation of the phone.

The handset also comes with a variety of additional useful extras such as a 3.15 mega pixel camera with enhanced fixed focus and an LED flash. A voice memo facility and GPS satellite navigation are also included.

The palm Pre is an accomplished piece of technology which offers an abundant amount of functionality within an impressively stylish casing. Palm have taken their experience of PDA technology and included it within this handset.
